Success in the real estate industry requires technical expertise as much as it does passion and Bahamas Realty has gone the extra mile to ensure that is agents are primed for success.
While the Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) mandates that all new agents undergo a three-month apprenticeship, Bahamas Realty, one of the largest and most respected real estate companies in the Bahamas, has designed a unique mentorship program for all its new agents.
The company pairs each new apprentice agent with a seasoned agent for the period of their apprenticeship and beyond; meaning that that broker will always be their mentor, so long as they are with the company. The program has proven to be a tremendous success. The firm’s Top Sales Agent for 2017, Phillip Kemp participated in the program, having been mentored by veteran sales associate and appraiser Jason Wong.
“One thing that I find interesting about the program is that the mentor is the mentor for the agent for the entire time they are both with the company, even beyond the initial three-month apprenticeship period. The mentoring agent will always be available to that agent when they have a question or need support. It builds a relationship of support, communication and a high-level of teamwork,” says Larry Roberts, former vice-president and CEO of Bahamas Realty, whose career in real estate has spanned nearly half a century.
Silvina Andrews, a perennial Bahamas Realty Top Producer with two decades of experience in the real estate industry has had two very successful apprentices under her mentorship in the last couple of years.
“The program is successful because the agents come out of the gate running. They feel secure in the knowledge that someone has their backs and is looking out for their best interest. It also helps them work more efficiently. Being a mentor is rewarding. It makes me a better agent to work with people who need counsel with their new business. It’s always exciting to work with different personalities,” says Andrews.
Ana Wassitsch, a mentee of Mrs Andrews says: “I had the privilege of having as a mentor one of the most experienced agents/brokers I have ever encountered, Silvina Andrews. Years ago, I approached her to sell my house and the task was accomplished flawlessly. At work, her guidance, hands-on teaching skills, experience and savviness in the business provides me with my everyday tools. Last, but not least, at Bahamas Realty continued education is a must and the company provides us with courses prepared by the leading names in the industry. To be up to date with international practices is the greatest gifts one could have.”
